peeking in the hive

Five little puppies
fetching sticks
one more came, and then
there were six.

Six little puppies
straight from heaven
one more came, and then
there were seven.

Seven little puppies
swinging on a gate
one more came, and then
there were eight.

Eight little puppies
looking just fine
one more came, and then
there were nine.

Nine little puppies
off to bed again
one more came, and then
there were ten.

Ten little puppies
fast asleep
all of them quiet
